MOSCOW (Olympics) – Spain's 19-year-old Alba Torrens scored 18 points to lead her team to a 90-73 win over Russia on Thursday at the Moscow Tournament – a warm-up event for the Olympics.

Anna Montanana had 17 points while Nuria Martinez scored 13.

Martinez missed Spain’s successful FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament with a finger injury but is now contending for a spot in the side that will play at the Beijing Games.

Russia are expected to have naturalized guard Becky Hammon with them at the Olympics but her WNBA commitments with San Antonio have prevented her from joining the team yet.

Spain coach Evaristo Perez again decided to rest his superstar, Amaya Valdemoro.

Maria Stepanova had 18 points in defeat, with Svetlana Abrosimova contributing 15.
