PORTLAND (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Rudy Fernandez is glad to see the end of his 2009-10 season with the Portland Trail Blazers.

After an impressive rookie campaign and an outstanding EuroBasket 2009 when he made the all-tournament team for gold-medal winning Spain, Fernandez struggled in Portland and looked unhappy on numerous occasions in his second year with the club.

"It hasn't been a good season and I'm not happy with the role I've had in Portland this season,” he said.

“What I want is to play, whether it's in the NBA, Europe or China.

“I love basketball and I have fun playing on the court.”

Fernandez, who lost good friend Sergio Rodriguez as a teammate in Portland when he left for Sacramento before being traded to the New York Knicks, added: "My role in Portland is very different to the one I have in the national team.

“Basically there, I have been left in a corner to make three-pointers."

Fernandez will play for Spain this summer at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

Spain will take on Lebanon, Canada, New Zealand, France and Lithuania in Group D.
