    ESP - Imbroda extends Valladolid stay

    VALLADOLID (ACB) - Former Spain coach Javier Imbroda has committed his future to Grupo Capitol Valladolid after agreeing a two-year contract extension. Imbroda, whose new deal takes him through to the end of the 2008/09 season, replaced Paco Garcia in November after Valladolid had lost eight of their opening nine ACB matches.

    VALLADOLID (ACB) - Former Spain coach Javier Imbroda has committed his future to Grupo Capitol Valladolid after agreeing a two-year contract extension.

    Imbroda, whose new deal takes him through to the end of the 2008/09 season, replaced Paco Garcia in November after Valladolid had lost eight of their opening nine ACB matches.

    Under the 46-year-old Imbroda, Valladolid won 11 of their remaining 25 matches - including victories over EuroCup champions Akasvayu Girona, reigning Spanish champions Unicaja Malaga, Real Madrid and Pamesa Valencia - to finish 16th in the standings.

    Imbroda coached Spain from 2001-02, leading them to the bronze medal in EuroBasket 2001 and to a fifth-placed finish at the 2002 FIBA World Championship, while he also took charge of the Under-20 national side last year.

    Domestically he has been in coach of Real Madrid, Unicaja and Caja San Fernando.
