MEMPHIS (NBA) - Spain international Pau Gasol has been cleared to return to full-contact basketball drills with his Memphis Grizzles team-mates as he continues his recovery from a broken foot.

The 7ft forward has not played for the Grizzlies this season after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his left foot while playing for his country at the FIBA World Championship in the summer.
Spain went on to win gold in Japan despite his absence.

Gasol resumed three-on-three drills with Memphis this week, and late on Friday the team announced he was clear to take part in all practice sessions.

Memphis have struggled without Gasol this season, and are last in the Southwest division with a 5-14 record.

However, coach Mike Fratello has vowed not to rush Gasol back into the line-up before he is ready.
