ESP – Fisher three-pointer lifts red-hot Gran Canaria to win at Manresa

MANRESA (ACB) - Kalise Gran Canaria stayed at the top of the ACB for another week with defending champions Tau Ceramica at 6-1 after a dramatic win at Ricoh Manresa.

After hitting the summit last week for the first time in club history, Gran Canaria won 68-67 thanks to a three-pointer by Josh Fisher in the final seconds.

Gran Canaria inbounded the ball to the American and despite being closely guarded, Fisher double-pumped and released the ball with his left hand while falling down to make an incredible shot. Great Britain's rising star Joel Freeland had a team-best 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds for the winners.

Josh Asselin of Manresa (4-4) led all scorers with 17.

Tau Ceramica bounced back from their midweek home defeat to Lottomatica Roma in the Euroleague with a 101-74 victory at Cajasol in Sevilla on Saturday.

Neven Spahija, who coached Tau last season but was not retained after the Basque club elected to bring Dusko Ivanovic back for a second stint, tasted defeat on his Pamesa Valencia debut at Unicaja Malaga.

Unicaja prevailed 82-75 and are third in the standings at 6-2.

MMT Estudiantes narrowly avoided relegation last season and they could be in danger by the end of this campaign after suffering their sixth defeat in eight games.

They lost at home to A.G. Fuenlabrada 89-71.

ViveMenorca claimed only their second victory in a 102-75 thrashing of CAI Zaragoza.

Granada claimed a 79-70 triumph over CB Murcia, DKV won 78-67 at Bruesa GBC and Real Madrid defeated visiting iurbentia Bilbao 84-74.

FIBA
