VALLADOLID (ACB) - Eulis Baez and Blancos de Rueda Valladolid are in a rich vein of form.
The club was in fourth place in mid-season and earned a trip to the Copa del Rey, and Baez (pictured) has now taken a personal honor after being named Player of the Week.
The 28-year-old scored 18 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, handed out three assists and came up with three steals in Valladolid's 71-55 triumph over Menorca Basquet.
He and his teammates broke open a close game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the visitors 27-14, to improve to 12-6 and leapfrog Caja Laboral into third place.
The victory was a sixth in a row for Valladolid.
Caja Laboral crashed to an 88-68 defeat at Meridiano Alicante, a club that had been propping up the bottom of the 18-team table but is now 15th with a 6-12 mark.
Justin Doellman and Kenny Hasbrouck poured in 22 and 19 points, respectively, for Alicante as they clinched their third win in five games.
One of two losses in that stretch came by the score of 58-57 at home to CAI Zaragoza.
Regal Barcelona and Real Madrid (both 15-3) occupy the top two spots in the ACB.
At the weekend, Barcelona prevailed 75-54 at Gran Canaria 2014 and Real Madrid won the capital city derby against Asefa Estudiantes, 82-61.
