    VALENCIA (ACB) - Pamesa Valencia have fired coach Ricard Casas following the club´s poor start to the ACB season. Valencia, who finished runners-up to Barcelona just four seasons ago, have lost four of their opening five matches and are stuck in the bottom two

    VALENCIA (ACB) - Pamesa Valencia have fired coach Ricard Casas following the club´s poor start to the ACB season.

    Valencia, who finished runners-up to Barcelona just four seasons ago, have lost four of their opening five matches and are stuck in the bottom two of the standings.

    Casas´ final game in charge was Sunday´s clash at Alta Gestion Fuenlabrada, which Valencia lost 78-60.

    Casas joined Valencia in May 2005 having previously been in charge at Ricoh Manresa.

    A statement on the Valencia website said: "Pamesa Valencia have decided to dismiss head coach Ricard Casas. The club wants to sincerely thank the coach for his work, professionalism and effort in developing the project of the Pamesa Valenica first team.

    "As of now, the sport directors of the club are working to bring in a new coach to direct the first team. In the meantime, the remaining coaching staff will be in charge of training."
