BANGKOK (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Spain recorded their fifth win in as many outings here beating Canada 72-56 in Group F eight-final round on Tuesday.

Spain now need to beat Russia on the morrow to take the top place in the group. Canada who went down to 2-3 are still with a chance to make the quarterfinals should they defeat China on Wednesday.

Canada did call the shots initially, but Spain soon got into their rhythm.

Leonor Rodriguez sank a sizzling three-pointer and Vega Gimeno scored her only points of the game - converting both the free-throws - and Spain took a 11-10 lead, which only grew as the game progressed.

Spain, who led by as many as 21 points at one stage, eventually won by 16 points.

Rodriguez returned 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds to go with Cristina Ouvina's game-high 17 points.

Marta Tudanca was confined to merely two points, but the other Marta - Xargay Casademont was as useful as ever with 14 points.

Natalie Achonwa was the highest scorer for Canada.
