ESP - Caja Laboral get new season off to perfect start

VITORIA (ACB) - Defending Spanish League champions Caja Laboral got their 2010-2011 campaign off to a great start with a 92-47 crushing of Meridiano Alicante.

The home side were up 20-17 at the end of the first quarter and gradually pulled away the rest of the way.

They outscored their opponents 28-9 in the second period for a 48-26 lead at the break and the second half was pretty much a formality.

Stanko Barac paced Caja Laboral with 17 points and Mirza Teletovic added 15.

Meanwhile, Euroleague champions Barcelona recorded a comfortable 83-58 win over Gran Canaria 2014.

The hosts raced out to a 31-16 advantage and never looked back as they shot 71 percent from two-point range (24 of 34) while holding the visitors to 39 percent.

Juan Carlos Navarro led three players in double figures with 18 points. Pete Mickeal added 15 and Terence Morris finished with 12. Ricky Rubio handed out 11 assists.

Real Madrid did not have it as easy as their main rivals as they battled hard for an 84-79 win away to Asefa Estudiantes.

Carlos Suarez had a team-high 21 points against his former team and helped Madrid erase a 44-39 half-time deficit by scoring a dozen in a 23-13 third quarter that proved the difference in the final scoreline.

Felipe Reyes had 14 points, Sergio Llull finished with 12 to go along with five rebounds and four assists and Sergio Rodriguez chipped in with 11.

Elsewhere, Louis Bullock made a perfect start to his tenure with Cajasol, scoring a team-high 19 points in their 85-80 win over DKV Joventut.

Unicaja's big off-season signing, Terrell McIntyre, proved his worth by converting a four-point play late in the game and help his team avoid to a 79-76 away win over CAI Zaragoza.

Power Electronics Valencia ripped Granada 101-76 behind Rafa Martinez's 25 points.
