MADRID (ACB) - In-form CB Granada center Curtis Borchardt has been named as the ACB’s MVP of the week for the fourth time this season.

The 26-year-old American, who has also won two of the three monthly awards to date, earned the accolade for his performance in Granada’s 104-100 overtime defeat to Caja San Fernando on Sunday.

Playing almost 10 minutes more than any other player on his side, the 2.13m Borchardt poured in 22 points and grabbed a remarkable 18 rebounds to claim the MVP award for the second successive week.

Borchardt, who was selected in the first round of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic before going on to represent the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies, has been a revelation since joining Granada in December 2005.

As well as his successes this season, Borchardt also picked up two weekly MVP awards during the last campaign, while being named the best player for the month of April.

Borchardt’s performance this weekend meant Felipe Reyes had to settle for the best domestic player in the ACB for the second week in succession.

The Spain ace poured in 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out two assists to lead Real Madrid to a 95-91 victory over DKV Joventut.

Meanwhile, in Bilbao an ACB record 15,414 supporters turned up at the Bizkaia Arena to watch Lagun Aro Bilbao Basket’s Basque derby with league leaders Tau Ceramica.
