BARCELONA (Euroleague) - Barcelona maintained their 100% start to Euroleague Group C with a 91-71 victory at the expense of Eldo Napoli.
Juan Carlos Navarro was the hero for the Catalan side with a points haul of 20, including two three-pointers and four from four from the charity stripe.
They are sole leaders of the group with a 4/0 record while Napoli fell to 1/3.
Denis Marconato added 13 points while Jordi Trias impressed with 10, six boards and six assists.
Also in Pool C, Fenerbahce Ulker beat Zalgiris 84-75, a victory largely built in a first quarter dominated 27-10 by the hosts.
Mirsad Turkcan was outstanding for the Istanbul outfit with 22 points and 10 rebounds. His shooting was excellent with eight from 10 at two-point range plus three from three from free throws and a successful conversion of his only three-point attempt.
Ibrahim Kutluay (18), Damir Mrsic (15), Oguz Savas (11) and Kaspars Kambala (10) also shone in a fine team performance.
In Group B, Maccabi Elite beat DKV Joventut 92-75 with a 26-5 first-quarter spanking crucial to the outcome. Nikola Vujcic of Maccabi and Lubos Barton of DKV shared top-scoring honours with 20 apiece.
Maccabi’s record improved to 3/1 in a group led by Panathinaikos who are 4/0.
In that pool Unicaja Malaga beat Olimpija 62-55 with once again the first quarter setting the tone, with the Andalusians taking it 23-12.
In Group A, Olympiacos are perfect at 4/0 after an 88-81 win at the expense of Le Mans.
The French side had the edge 70-69 at the end of the third quarter but the Greek side took the last quarter 19-11 with James Penn impressing with 26 points including six from six from the free throw line.
Alex Acker’s 21 points and seven boards also included a perfect free throw record of seven from seven.
RheinEnergie held off a late Climamio Bologna rally to win 90-86. The Italian side won the last quarter 36-25 but their German visitors had done enough earlier to win the game and Bologna are now 0/4.
David Blutenthal poured in 29 points including five from behind the paint in a losing cause for Bologna.
Prokom Trefl beat Dynamo Moscow 60-49 with Prokom’s third quarter effort (18-10) the difference between the teams. Bojan Popovic poured in 14 for Dynamo but it was all in vain.
