VALENCIA (EuroBasket) - Spain wrapped up their preparations for the EuroBasket in Lithuania with a two-game sweep of Australia.

The defending champions of Europe beat the Australians in Murcia on Thursday, 68-51, and on Friday romped in Valencia's La Fonteta, 97-58.

In the second rout, Pau Gasol had 17 points and both Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka poured in 14.

Juan Carlos Navarro (11pts) and Sergio Llull (7pts), who had missed Thursday's game to be with Felipe Reyes and his family following the death of Reyes' father, returned to the line-up and played in Valencia.

Reyes is expected to be with Spain when they travel to Lithuania, where the EuroBasket tips off on August 31.

Overall, Spain coach Sergio Scariolo believes the players have acquitted themselves well in the build-up to Lithuania, where they will try and reach the Final of the 24-team event to qualify for the London Games.

"The preparation has been good," Spain coach Sergio Scariolo said.

"We faced the best European teams and with the exception of two or three (games), they have been a high-level rivals that have tested us in most games, although we won almost all of them."

The sides that finish third, fourth, fifth and sixth at the EuroBasket will earn places in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament where three more places in the London Games will be up for grabs.

Australia, meanwhile, will try to use the two-game series as a learning experience ahead of their Oceania Championship showdown with New Zealand.

The winner of that three-game series, which tips off on September 7 in Melbourne, will qualify for the London Games.

The loser will be invited to the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
