GUADALAJARA (FIBA U17 World Championship for Men) - Spain will be in confident mood when they travel to Germany for the FIBA 17 World Championship after winning the Torneo de Guadalajara.
The European team pulled off an incredible comeback against Canada, outscoring them 35-14 in the fourth quarter to claim an 88-79 win and they followed that up with another win over Argentina.
The Spanish got a game-high 22 points from Luis Conde against Canada but it was far from a one-man show.
Daniel Diaz had 15 points, Javier Medori 14 and both Jaime Fernandez and Jorge Sanz 13.
The fourth quarter also proved to be the undoing for Argentina when they faced Spain.
Diaz had 15 points, Medori 13 and Mamdou Diop 10 as Spain won 75-64.
The South Americans trailed only 52-50 heading into the last frame but the Spanish pulled away.
Matias Bortolin and L. Massarelli poured in 18 apiece for Argentina.
The FIBA U17 World Championship tips off on July 2.
Spain and Canada are in Group B with Germany, Poland and Australia while the Argentinians are in Group A with the United States, Egypt, Lithuania, China and Serbia.
