ESP – Alicante get first win with upset of Real Madrid

ALICANTE (ACB) - Meridiano Alicante made sure there was a second big surprise in as many weeks in Spain's ACB by upsetting previously unbeaten Real Madrid, 78-67.

Thomas Heurtel had 16 points, Mario Stojic 15 and Justin Doellman 13 with nine rebounds for Oscar Quintana’s side, which won for the first time in the league.

The contest in Alicante was tight until the fourth quarter, when the home side blew the game open by outscoring Madrid 24-15.

Carlos Suarez had 16 points and nine boards in defeat.

Regal Barcelona, Caja Laboral, DKV Joventut, Lagun Aro GBC and Madrid each have four victories and just one defeat.

Lagun Aro GBC broke open a close game in the last frame at home against Blancos de Rueda Valladolid and claimed a 75-64 victory.

Pablo Laso's side outscored Valladolid 23-11 in the final frame.

DKV Joventut trailed Power Electronics Valencia by 15 points in the third quarter but battled back to win 86-83.
