VALENCIA (2010 FIBA World Championship for Women) - Elisa Aguilar has yet to decide where she will continue her professional career after parting with Ros Casares at the end of the 2009-10 campaign, but she knows what she’ll be doing later this year.
The Spain national team captain will play at the FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic.
"Each summer, we approach it with the same enthusiasm,” she says. “When you are called to represent your country, it’s the ultimate (honor).
“We are only going to compete in the way that we know how because we are not the tallest, nor do we have the best players in the world.
“But we know how to compete.”
Spain, who finished fifth at the 2008 Olympics and captured a bronze medal last year at the EuroBasket in Latvia, will compete against Mali, Korea and Brazil in Group C of the FIBA World Championship for Women.
Their Preliminary Round games will be staged in Brno.
“We want to take a step forward at the FIBA World Championship because that competition is very hard and you have great powers, but in recent years we have introduced new blood with people with talent,” she said.
“We have a generation mix that is doing a great job.
“We are going to the Czech Republic to compete and with great enthusiasm. "
