EL SALVADOR (FESABAL) - The Salvadoran Basketball Federation (FESABAL) with the support of the National Sports Institute, the El Salvador Olympic Committee, Impresa Repuestos and Universidad Tecnológica (UTEC), will honor the national basketball figures.
The event will be held on February 27 at Club Tecleño of Santa Tecla where the basketball authorities and invited guests will be at the event.
In this event the members of the national team who 50 years ago won a gold medal in the VIII Central American and Caribbean Games held in Caracas, Venezuela in 1959.
The members of the team were José Domingo “Chomingo” Chávez Aguilar, José Mauricio “Cotuza” Lemus, Ricardo “Cucalón” Guzmán Arévalo, Luis “Chino” García Tobar, César Augusto “Nene” Escalante Monge, Mauricio “Pachín” Ibarra López, Pío Salomón “Cipote” Rosales Panameño and Roberto “Ratón” Eugenio Selva, who was the best scorer with 81 points.
Also Juan “Loco” Matheu Llort, Alejandro “Tatún” Pereira and team captain José Adolfo “Chorro de Humo” Pineda were also key players in the team. The winners of the gold medal were coached by Adolfo “Jocote” Rubio.
FESABAL will also take this time to recognize the job done by many coaches, players and directors during the history of basketball in the country.
