ERI - 2011 Olympic Solidarity Coaching Clinic reports

Eritrea (Olympic Solidarity Technical course for coaches) – The Technical Course for coaches took place at the National Union of Eritrea Youth Offices and Bocciofila in Asmara from 20^-30 August 2011.

Coaching expert Ronald Owino instructed 27 coaches in an intermediate course (Level 2) to help promote youth basketball in Eritrea through enhanced coaching skills.

The course was divided in theoretical and practical sessions. A wide number of topics were covered, including skill development, essential physical training, mini basketball, development of a coaching philosophy, and coaching of 15-18 year-old players.

Demonstrations involving youths aged 16 to 22 from local schools and clubs helped the expert highlight the theories taught throughout the course.
