    BENGHAZI (Afrobasket 2009) - The hope of five-time champion of the FIBA Africa Championship for Men, Egypt was finally dashed Tuesday when it bows to Cote d’Ivoire by 8-64 points.

    The Ivoires whose hope of going through to the next now rest on the out come of the game between host Libya and Mali won the first, second and last quarters – 19-16, 17-16 and 23-10 leaving the Egyptian to run away with a slim 22-21 points win in the third quarter.

    The Ivories who dominated the game now has 9-points from six games from the preliminary stage.

    Charles Abouo led Cote d’Ivoire with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, Mohamed Kone had a double double of 13 points and 13 rebounds while Jonathan Kale added 14 points and 7 rebounds.

    Amir Fanan led led the floor with 18 points and 5 rebounds while the duo of Tamer Mustafa and Mostafa Meshaal contributed 13 and 11 points each.
