BRNO (Czechia) - There were celebrations in Brno as both Czechia and Belgium made it two wins from two to lockdown their spot in next week's FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 Quarter-Finals. Czechia claimed a comfortable victory against Portugal with all players scoring in a top team effort, while Belgium brushed aside Montenegro with ease.
Czechia step a little closer to Pireaus
It was another impressive display for the home fans in Brno to enjoy as Czechia came out firing once again and this time ending up striding purposefully past Portugal 73-49. The outcome didn't look to be in doubt after a strong opening period and once they dominated the newcomers 21-8 in the second quarter, they were on the road to victory and out of sight.
It was a beautifully balanced and paced team performance, once again sharing the ball and handing out plenty of assists - all of which contributed to every single Czechia player scoring. Eliska Hamzova was arguably the pick of the crop with 9 points and 4 assists, while Julia Reisingerova added a team-high 11 points.
Belgium on another level as they cruise into Quarter-Finals
A remarkable 23-0 start to the game had defending champions Belgium out of sight within a handful of minutes as they rode past Montenegro 87-53 to coast into the last eight .
To their credit, Montenegro showed heart to fight back and push the Cats harder after the sticky start, but the holders had far too much. Kyara Linskens was on fire and finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Notably, rising star Nastja Claessens also had 14 points and 6 boards.
