BOLOGNA (Italy) - Co-hosts Italy locked down fellow FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 Quarter-Finalists Lithuania to finish as Group B winners. Having not completed a flawless first phase campaign since 1995, there was a lot to love for the home supporters as Italy finished 3-0 and in pole position. Meanwhile disappointed to miss out on a place in the last eight, Slovenia at least finished on a high after they eased past Balkan neighbors Serbia.
Italy post their first perfect Group Phase in 30 years
The home fans were on their feet when the final buzzer sounded and Italy had taken down Lithuania 65-51 to head to the Quarter-Finals full of confidence and with their best record in the opening phase for three decades.
Italy made their move just before half-time to get onto the front foot and take control, with Cecilia Zandalasini again impressive. Her 22 points and 9 rebounds paced the win, with the aggressive and impactful team defense also doing the heavy lifting to secure victory.
Slovenia save best until last - but still head home
Slovenia finished the competition with a standout 84-69 win against Serbia in a display that underlined how devastated they will be at missing out on the Quarter-Finals, a potential shot at the podium and a FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments ticket.
They took control with a 15-2 burst in the second period and never had cause to look back over their shoulders as they coasted to victory. It was built around their frontcourt duo Jessica Shepard and Eva Lisec, with the former collecting 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, while Lisec caught the eye with a rare double-double of 10 boards and 10 assists.
