PIRAEUS (Greece) - Türkiye are celebrating a Quarter-Finals spot at FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 after they beat Greece 83-72 in front of an amazing 10,503 fans at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
Ever since the draw for the tournament was made, it always looked like being one of the most important games of the group phase in the competition and so it proved.
Both teams engaged in an intense and gripping duel, with the added composure of Türkiye proving decisive. They made a number of clutch shots during the last quarter to seal the deal and extinguish the dreams of their hosts.
There were strong performances in the paint from Tilbe Senyurek who racked up 19 points and 5 boards, while Tearia McCowan was a handful as always with a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile Alperi Onar had 14 points and 8 assists, with fellow guard Goksen Fitik matching that scoring contribution. Artemis Spanou stood out in defeat with a team-high 19 points.
Earlier in the day in Group A, France achieved another high tide mark for the 21st century as they blew away Switzerland 111-37 to write the biggest winning margin for 49 years in the competition.
