MUNICH (Germany) - The stage is set for the draws of the FIBA European Youth and Small Countries Championships 2022, set to take place on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 in Freising, Germany.
The draws will see 254 teams drawn for the 16 youth tournaments, which are to be played in three age categories and three divisions, and a further 12 teams for the Small Countries events – six each for the men's and women's competitions.
The ceremony will begin at 11:00 CET and will be streamed live on the FIBA YouTube channel.
As confirmed in December by the FIBA Europe Board, the seedings for the youth events draws will now be based on the average results in the same category from the last three years of events played. Meanwhile, the FIBA World Ranking, presented by Nike will be used to determine the seeding for the Small Countries tournaments.
The summer events in Europe will tip off with the men's and women's FIBA European Championship for Small Countries, set to take place from June 28 to July 3, in Ta Qali, Malta and Nicosia, Cyprus respectively.
The FIBA U20 Women's European Championship in Sopron, Hungary will get the youth events underway on July 8, with the tournaments in other age groups and categories continuing all the way until August 27.
