    DOM - Metros take crown

    SAN CRISTOBAL (LiDoBa) - Dominican Republic outfit Metros have been crowned the LiDoBa league champions after defeating San Cristobal’s Constituyentes 87-84 in the seventh and decisive game of the final

    SAN CRISTOBAL (LiDoBa) - Dominican Republic outfit Metros have been crowned the LiDoBa league champions after defeating San Cristobal’s Constituyentes 87-84 in the seventh and decisive game of the final.

    The Santiago-based team lifted the Virgilio Travieso Soto Cup after an exciting clash which was taken to over-time after both sides finished normal time tied at 74-74.

    Joel Ramirez was the match-winner for Metros when he netted a three-pointer with only 24 seconds left on the clock but Kevin Brashwell was the side’s top-scorer with 24 points.

    Carmelo Antrone Lee, the Puerto Rican signing who played for his country at the recent FIBA World Championship in Japan, netted 12 points and was elected the MVP of the final stages.
    Constituyentes, who eliminated Caneros from La Romana in the semi-finals, took the lead in the final by winning game one 69-65, but Metros, who conquered Marineros from Puerto Plata in the last four, equalised it by winning 85-76 as visitors.

    Each side won two more matches to set up an exciting finale but it was Metros who ran out as winners in a pulsating last act.
