Omer Kutluay became just the fourth player in FIBA U17 World Cup history to dish out 12 assists.

ISTANBUL (Türkiye) - It is getting hard to come up with superlatives to describe what Omer Kutluay is doing for Türkiye at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2026 as the star guard flirted with another triple-double while dishing out 12 assists - to tie him third all-time for dimes in a single game.

Kutluay once again was unstoppable in scoring 32 points while also grabbing 7 rebounds and swiping 1 steal in Türkiye's 98-77 win over Puerto Rico.

Kutluay came into the game averaging 32.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 9.5 assists. He missed a triple-double on Day One by 3 rebounds and 1 assist and he needed just 1 rebound in Türkiye's Day Two win.

The record for the most assists in a single game is held by Czechia's Radovan Kouril, who had 15 against France in 2012. Quinn Cook of USA dealt 13 assists against China in 2010 as the only other game with more assists.

It was the fourth game with 12 assists - twice by Kouril in 2012 and once by Puerto Rico's Andre Curbelo in 2018.
