    VIDNOJE (Olympics) – The Czech Republic beat Israel 88-68 on Thursday to clinch third place the VTB Cup in the Moscow Region – a warm-up event for the Olympics.

    Hana Machova, who got married after the Czechs earned a spot at the Beijing Games via June’s FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Madrid, led the way with 14 points while Eva Viteckova contributed 13.

    Katerina Elhotova and Jana Vesela weighed in with 12 apiece.

    The Czechs, who lost their first two games in this event to Spain and Russia, will play in Group B at the Olympics with China, Mali, New Zealand, the United States and Spain.

    "With the execution of all 12 players, I am satisfied,” said Czech coach Jan Bobrovsky.

    “The Moscow tournament met my expectations in terms of preparation for the Olympic Games.”
