PEJA (Kosovo) - It comes down to Cyprus and Armenia to decide the winner of the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2025, Division C as these two teams will square off in Sunday's Final in Peja.
Last year's runners-up Cyprus will look for their fifth Division C title after topping Albania 90-56 in the Semi-Finals. Cyprus dominated from tip-off, building themselves a 21-point lead after the first quarter, which Albania only managed to trim it to 40-24 at the half-time break.
However, Cyprus exploded with a 17-2 run to start the third quarter and it was smooth sailing from there, with their lead skyrocketting to 45 points at one point.
Emmeleia Shiamishi tallied 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals for the winners, while Evelina Demetriadi offered a helping hand with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Aurora Dhedhes provided 15 points for the losing side.
Cyprus will be joined in the Final by 2017 champions Armenia, who earned that right by beating Malta 72-65 in a game that almost witnessed a miracle comeback by Malta. It started off fairly even with Armenia taking the early lead and Malta overturning it for 19-16 at the first break.
Armenia then locked down on the defensive end, allowing their opponents only 21 points in second and third quarters combined, scoring 39 themselves. It was a 19-point lead for Armenia with six minutes to play, but then a final push ensued: Malta went on a run that got them within 69-66 with a minute on the clock.
In the end, Malta couldn't capitalize, as they turned the ball over in the crucial possession for Armenia to put the game away.
Ava Seda Gharib dominated with a monstrous double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds, while Susanna Khachatryan posted up 16 points and 11 rebounds. Claire Portelli gave it all with 18 points, 16 rebounds double-double with the help of Samira Deguara's 23 points for the losing team.
Earlier, in the Classification 5-8 games hosts Kosovo ran over Gibraltar 74-35 with Anlia Fazliu's 12 points, and Ana Mestumrishvili tallied 16 points in Georgia's comfortable 64-41 victory over Moldova.
