HAVANA (FIBA World Championship for Women) - Center Yakelyn Plutin is aware of the difficulty of Cuba's group at the FIBA World Championship for Women.

The South Americans have been drawn in Group D along with France, the Czech Republic and Chinese Taipei.

"I have no doubt that our rivals will be better prepared than in the previous championships," Plutin told Cuban newspaper Trabajadores.

She is still confident they can progress though.

"Chinese Taipei and France are vulnerable, while the Czech Republic play good basketball."

Plutin, widely regarded as the team's pivotal figure, believes the standard of women's basketball worldwide has improved.

"All the World Championship games test you every time, because your rivals are gaining more competitive experience as they play in stronger leagues," she added.
