ZAGREB (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Croatia gave Italy more than they could handle as they continued their FIBA World Championship preparations with a two-game set against Simone Piangiani's team.
Croatia won 89-72 on Saturday behind 15 points from Bojan Bogdanovic, overcoming big nights for NBA duo Andrea Bargnani and Marco Belinelli, who had 28 and 23 points respectively for Italy.
Piangiani was impressed by what he saw from the Croats.
"Definitely it was the toughest test we have had so far," he said. "They pulled away in the second quarter because we made avoidable mistakes."
In the second game on Sunday, Croatia won again, but by a narrower margin as Italy went down 80-71.
Marko Thomas scored 16 while Bogdanovic and Luka Zoria scored 15 each for Croatia.
Bargnani again led the way for Italy with 23 points while Belinelli had 15.
