ZAGREB (A1 Liga) - Cibona Zagreb used an impressive three-point shooting display to beat KK Zadar 87-81 and extend the best-of-five series but could be without star player Marko Tomas for the remaining games.
The defending champions connected on 17 of 29 attempts from beyond the arc to win their first game of the series and now trail 2-1 with Game 4 in Zadar on Tuesday.
Tomas injured his Achilles tendon in the first half and it is thought he has ruptured it.
Vedran Vukusic and Jamont Gordon buried two three-pointers each in the second quarter to give Cibona a 45-33 lead at halftime.
Zadar fought back in the third quarter, with Vladimir Boisa and Rok Stipcevic spearheading a run of 11 unanswered points to get within one.
The home side did not panic though and re-established a double-digit lead in the final frame thanks to Vukusic and Bojan Bogdanovic.
The visitors got within 83-79 with 35 seconds left to play, but Luksa Andric then grabbed a vital offensive rebound off a missed Gordon free-throw and after he was fouled, he made good on his two attempts from the charity stripe.
Gordon had 21 points and seven assists while Vukusic was a perfect five of five from three-point territory for 16 points. Adric tallied 13 points and nine rebounds.
Hrvoje Peric was the game's high-scorer with 22 points. Stipcevic just missed out on a double-double with 15 points and nine assists.
