    CPV - Cape Verde hold Coaches Clinic

    PRAIA (Coach Clinic) - The Cape Verde Basketball Federation is rounding off the year with a basketball camp and coaching clinic.

    The event is scheduled to be held from 17th December to 5th January.

    The event labelled “ Cape Verde Elite Basketball Camp & Coaching Clinic” will take place in the Cape Verde Island cities of Praia between 17th and 23rd December, Mendelo will welcome the between 27th and 30th December, while the activities marking the end of the calendar in the FIBA Africa Zone-2 nation will conclude in Sal from 3rd-5th January 2011.

    Both the Elite Camp, which will have in attendance top and up-coming talents, and the coaches clinic will be made up of participants from across the continent. The event is sponsored by the Cape Verde Basketball Federation with support from the Erie Community College Athletics Department, Samaritans Feet (a non profit organization) and Global Sports Advantage, all hailing from the USA.

    Head Coach of the Cape Verde senior Men's National Team and Camp Director, Alex Nwora, stated that the Camp and clinic were being organized by the Cape Verde federation in conjunction with top player, Tony Lima, and was designed to give coaches and players the opportunity to take their game to the next level by acquiring basic fundamentals that will enable them to compete effectively at all levels.

    Coach Nwora, who is also Head Coach of Erie Community College, Buffalo, USA, added that the coaches clinic was to be supervised by Claude Constantino, FIBA Africa instructor and President of the FIBA Africa Coaches Committee, ensuring up-to-date modern coaching techniques.

    Coaches expected at the camp include: Abdou N’diaye (Head Coach, Senegal National Team), Richard Jacobs, (Head Coach ABA Sharks, USA,), Darryl Jacobs, Head Coach Clark Atlanta University, USA), Godwin Owinje, President, Radars Hoops international, USA), Linzy Davis, Mount Zion Academy, USA and Col Sam Ahmedu (Rtd), Dodan Warriors, Nigeria and President, FIBA Africa Marketing Council and Antonio Tavares, assistant coach of Cape Verde.

    Guests expected to grace the occasion include: Dr Alphose Bile (FIBA Africa Secretary General), Rodrigo Mascarenhas (Benfica, Portugal), Marito Correira ( Primero, D’Agosto, Angola), Jose Luis Almeida ( Cape Verde), Jose Almeida (AD Vagos), Portugal and Ivan Almeida( Stone Hill, USA).
