LAUSANNE (Switzerland) - Some of the best basketball tacticians in the world will be at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025 to pass along some of their knowledge with Vincent Collet, Gordon Herbert, Mateo Chus and Ilias Papatheodorou speaking at the event's Coaches Clinic.
The four coaches will be on hand from July 3-6 at the Ecole Hoteliere in Lausanne to address key themes of the modern game from strategy to individual development.
Collet collected eight international medals during his 15 years as head coach of the France national team including silver at the 2020 and 2024 Olympics, the title at the FIBA EuroBasket 2013 and third at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2014 and 2019.
Herbert had a wildly successful three-year run with Germany, taking them to third place at the EuroBasket 2022, the championship at the FIBA World Cup 2023 and then the country's first ever appearance in the Olympic Semi-Finals in 2024.
The Canada native, who currently is coaching at German side FC Bayern Munich, will take over as Canada national team head coach in 2026.
The Spanish playcaller Chus has been Real Madrid's head coach since 2022. He had served as Madrid's assistant coach under Pablo Laso since 2014, and he helped this great European club to win many titles.
The Greek Papatheodorou, who currently serves as head coach at Promitheas Patras, has been Switzerland's senior national team head coach since 2021 and guided Greece to the titles at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2015 and FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2017.
Some 200 coaches from Switzerland and around the world will be on hand to learn more about topics such as pick and roll; teaching offensive concepts; the current state of basketball; big man development; scouting, data analysis and AI processing; early offense; spacing on offense and man-to-man defense.
