    TRIPOLI (Afrobasket 2009) - The defeat suffered by the Malian in the quarter-final may have taken a tool on most of the players as they lost their first classification game to Central Africa Republic by 80-74 points.

    The Central Africa team played the game without their priced jewel, Romain Sato won the first quarter 20-18 points while the Malian took the second and third quarters 17-08 and 18-13 points to go into the last quarter with a 12 points lead of 53-41 points only to go to sleep in the last quarter which the Central Africa Republic won by 39-21 points for a cumulative score-line of 80-74 points to set up placement 5-6 position against Nigeria on Saturday while Mali take on Senegal for placement 7-8.

    Max Mombollet led the Central Africa Republic in scoring with 30 points and 4 rebounds, Regis Koundjia added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists while the duo of Farice Mokoteemapa and Francois Pehoua contributed 14 and 11 points each.
