BEIJING (CBA) - Mengke Bateer's Xinjiang are setting the pace early in this season’s China's CBA with their 96-90 triumph over Shanxi Zhongyu improving the team’s record to a league best 12-1.

Former China center Mengke had 28 points in the triumph which dropped Shanxi to 7-6.

Xinjiang had thumped last year's beaten finalists Liaoning (5-8) in their previous encounter, 96-75.

Dongguan needed overtime but they finally defeated Bayi 116-110. Michael Harris poured in 49 points and corralled 21 rebounds in that big win for Dongguan, who are 10-3 alongside Guandong and Jiangsu.

Guandong are not expected to have their exciting China playmaker Chen Jianghua for three months because of a wrist injury.

Bayi, Shaanxi and Zhejiang Wanma are each 8-5.

At the wrong end of the table are winless Shanghai, the former club of Yao Ming.

To add insult, Shanghai recently lost China national team guard Liu Wei and Cai Liang to lengthy suspensions for their role in a post-game fight with Gabe Muoneke of Yunnan.

Shanghai fell to 0-13 after a 103-94 home drubbing to Jiangsu.

Other results from 13th round action in China's CBA: Zhejiang Guangsha 124 Yunnan 103, Zhejiang Wanma 117 Fujian 103, TianJin 102 Beijing 105, Qingdao 100 Jilin 111, Shandong 118 Liaoning 112.
