INCHEON (FIBA Asia Championship for Women) - China warmed up rather well, in their Tuesday's win against Thailand, setting the stage for an all-important Level I encounter against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.
Chinese coach Sun Fengwu said as much in his post match conference. "We had to try out new play formations keeping in mind tomorrow's game."
He dismissed suggestions of any lack of motivation in his players, "this is a young team and the players haven't this kind of exposure before. So where's the question of not being motivated."
"We need to play well according to what we have planned irrespective of the opposition. That's the key to improvement," he said.
Scores
China 113 (Wei Wei 21, Ma Zheng Yu 19, Mo Li 14, Guan Xin 11) bt Thailand 47 (Roong Aro 10, Naruemoi 10) (Quarterwise: 31-10, 61-19, 87-36, 113-47)
