CHN – Shandong defeat hands Bayi and Beijing final play-off spots

BEIJING (CBA) - Bayi Rockets and Beijing Ducks lost their Round 33 games, but Shandong Flaming Bulls’ defeat to Zhejiang Golden Lions paved the way for the two to secure the final CBA play-off places with a round to spare on Wednesday.

Zhejiang, who themselves needed a win to seal the play-off berth, defeated Shandong 96-83 at home, thus sending the Bulls out of the reckoning.

Bayi lost 93-113 to Shanxi and Beijing 121-122 in Overtime – both away games – but are ahead of Shandong in the number of wins.

Round 34, the final round of the Regular season, will be played on Friday with all eyes focused on the clash between DongGuan Leopards and Guangdong Tigers in the battle for the number two spot.

Guangdong, who host that game, need to win by more than nine points to tie Dongguan in win-loss and overtake them in goal differential.

Earlier in the season, Dongguan had won 112-103 in Overtime in their home game against Guangdong.

Xinjiang Flying Tigers have already clinched the Regular Season title.
