BEIJING - Quincy Douby scored a record high to lead Xinjiang Flying Tigers to a 100-92 win on road against defending CBA champions Guangdong Tigers in Game 1 of the 2011 CBA Finals on Friday.

Douby’s 53-point game-high was a new record for the highest score in a CBA Finals game bettering the 49 points iconic star Yao Ming had scored in a game when leading Shanghai Sharks to a 3-1 win against Bayi Rockets in the 2001-02 Finals.

Douby had averaged 31.5 points per game in the 38 games Xinjiang had played before Friday’s game. The 27-year-old had 30-plus scores in 18 of those games and was the leading force in Xinjiang’s top finish in the Regular season.

On Friday, Douby fired in 10 three-pointers in 17 attempts and scored 20 of his team’s 26 points in the fourth quarter, and also collected 11 rebounds as Xinjiang moved one more step closer to winning their maiden CBA title.

“It is very important for us to grasp the first, which will make us easy in the following ones,” said Xinjiang coach Jiang Xingquan.

Xinjiang host the next two games of the best-of-seven Finals series at Urumqi on Sunday and Wednesday.

Xu GuoChong contributed 13 points and Zhang QingPeng had 11 points for Xinjiang. Mengke Bateer pulled down 10 rebounds.

Guangdong, aiming for their fourth successive CBA title started off well for a 29-25 lead at the first quarter.

But Douby took charge of the proceedings thereafter and helped Xinjiang to a scoring advantage of 16-13 and 33-25 over the next two quarters.

Wang Shipeng was Guangdong’s highest scorer with 22 points and American Marcus Haislip had 20 points.

The other import Lester Hudson missed a double double by one rebound scoring 12 points besides dishing out a game-high 5 assists.

And Zhu Fangyu had an 18-point game.

“I've tried my best to help the team, but we had lapse in attention in defense and rebounds,” said Zhu.
