Unified Korea refused to go down easily against Chinese Taipei before losing in overtime 87-85. Chinese Taipei had the lead up to 11 points in the second quarter only to have Korea storm back to make it a three-point game before halftime. The game went back and forth before Korea’s Hanbyul Kim was able to get the game-tying basket with 6 seconds left in the game, forcing an eventual overtime session. Kim finished with 26 points and 9 rebounds in this game.
Chinese Taipei built up a 5-point lead with 2 minutes left in the game once again, but Korea made one last rally that came up just short of a miraculous comeback victory when Hyejin Park missed the potential game-winning three.
Peng Szuchin starred for Chinese-Taipei with 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists.
