China won the Asian Junior Men's Basketball Championship after beating South Korea 99-83 here on Saturday. Four years ago, China lost the game against South Korea in the semi-final the championship and settled for only the third place at last. So tonight's final was supposed to be a "revenge battle"

China won the Asian Junior Men's Basketball Championship after beating South Korea 99-83 here on Saturday.
Four years ago, China lost the game against South Korea in the semi-final the championship and settled for only the third place at last. So tonight's final was supposed to be a "revenge battle".
However, games against South Korea are always hard. China got into trouble as well at the beginning of the final, when South Korea's strong defense had forced China to make lots of turnovers.
Nevertheless, with the help of Chen Jianghua and Zhou Peng, China finally got back into the game and led 48-38 at halftime. Chen scored 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Zhou grabbed 12 points and 4 rebounds.
South Korea kept on struggling hard in the second half, and had always given pressure to China. But the Chinese players successfully withstood the severe test and finally overcame South Korea with a 16 points margin.
"The Championship is the result of all the players and coaches in our team, " Li Chunjiang, head coach of China said, "we have trained very hard before the championship, and we deserve the title."
Lebanon beat Chinese Taipei 83-60 early this afternoon and also qualified for the Junior World Basketball Championship next year. Enditem
