CHI - Duo advance in Chile

CASTRO (Libsur) - Deportivo Valdivia and Deportes Ancud progressed to the final four of Chile's Libsur competition after winning their respective play-off ties.

Valdivia overcame Deportes Castro 2-0 in their best-of-three tie with 73-51 and 65-64 wins.

In Game One on Saturday, David Ergas (21 points) and Paulo Henriquez (11 points) starred as the hosts cruised to an easy victory, but Game Two on Monday produced a much tighter contest.

A three-pointer by Francisco Bravo at the buzzer helped Valdivia eventually edge their rivals by a single point to move into the semi-final stage for the third time in four years.

Ancud, meanwhile, saw off Nueva Imperial 2-0.

In Game One, Rodrigo Zuniga netted 25 points and Johnny Gomez added 16 as the away side claimed a 101-97 win.

Game Two in Ancud city saw a thumping victory for the hosts, who triumphed 122-72.

The pair now join Provincial Osorno and Provincial Llanquihue in the final four, which takes place from July 27 to 29.
