PARANA (Liga Sudamericana) - Kerry Blackshear has returned to Chile for another spell with Universidad de Concepcion and has big hopes for the club in this week’s Liga Sudamericana action.
The continental competition tips off in Parana, Entre Rios, Argentina on Friday with Sionista hosting a Group A that also includes Paraguayan champions Libertad, Brazilian juggernauts Universo/BRB and the Chilean team.
The 36-year-old Blackshear, who played in Campanil in 1998 and 2000, said of Universidad de Concepcion: "I arrive very happy to be at this club, where I have very fond memories and I hope I can help and contribute."
Another player that has joined the team is Mark Sanford, a former NBA draft pick of Miami who once played for the Globetrotters.
Jarrett Stephens is the other foreign player on the books of Universidad de Concepcion, who will take on Sionista on Friday.
Sionista have had a big change this week with the signing of LaShawn Malloy.
The 24-year-old Malloy has replaced Aaron Williams in the squad.
