ANCUD (Libsur) - Deportes Ancud have been crowned Libsur champions after winning last weekend's Final Four tournament.

Despite losing their last game against Valdivia, 76-71, the team from Chiloe Island claimed the title thanks to the victories over Provincial Llanquihue (97-73 on Friday) and Provincial Osorno (91-78 on Saturday).

The title-decider saw Ancud and Valdivia tied at the end of regulation at 60-60, but Valdivia pulled away in overtime to win by five.

Jose Del Solar and Claus Prutzmann scored 18 points for Valdivia, while Rodrigo Zuniga netted 19 for Ancud.

Zuniga was one of the star performers for the champions along with Patricio Arroyo, who was on fine form in the first game against Llanquihue, scoring 21 points.

Valdivia won 80-59 against Osorno in the Final Four's opening contest, but on Saturday they lost 71-69 against Llanquihue.

Their subsequent triumph against Ancud was not enough to take the title, however, with Valdivia requiring a winning margin of 26 points to deny their opponents. They eventually had to be content with second place.

Llanquihue defeated Osorno 97-86 to claim third place in Sunday's other game.

Leonel Mendez scored 28 points for the winners, while Cristian Perez netted 24 points in a losing cause for Osorno.
