CHILE (Olympic Solidarity Coaching Clinics) - The Olympic Solidarity Basketball Coaching Clinic Level 3 (advanced) was held from July 15 to 23, 2006. The expert who conducted the clinic was William Colon (PUR).

The theme of the clinic was learning the basics: offence and defence and how to share these fundamentals with the young, while adapting to the environment and the available material.
The outcome was encouraging as there was a lot of interest from the participants who all wanted to raise the level of basketball in Chile.
The course was given in Spanish and had many engaging debates. In total approximately 24 hours of practical and theoretical classes were given.

The organisation was very good, with excellent hospitality, accommodations and timely transportation. The facilities met all the requirements with a considerable amount of equipment. There was no shortage of players all of whom were extremely motivated and eager to help.

Mr Colon feels that the clinic was a success, but more could be done. For example there are no coaches’ association within the national basketball federation and no school for coaches – Should the level of basketball rise in Chile, an investment will need to be made at this level.
