SAN SALVADOR (El Salvador) - Canada's Amelia Sow was crowned the Most Valuable Player after shining brightly amongst the girls who stepped out at the 14th edition of the Basketball Without Borders Americas Camp.
Taking place in El Salvador across four days, the 2025 event turned out to be another celebration of FIBA and the NBA's distinguished global development outreach program.
Involving high school age prospects from countries and territories across Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, the campers received basketball and life lessons from current and former FIBA and NBA players, legends and coaches.
Sow produced an exceptional contribution to lead the All-Star lineup, which also included three other Canadians in the shape of Chante Murray, Jordyn Wheeler and Yohana Fami.
The list was rounded out by Astrid Inojosa (Venezuela), Micaela Cavalcanti (Brazil) Sofia Novoa Ferrari (Argentina) and Terrell McCoy (Bahamas).
There were also three other individual honors distributed, with Astrid Inojosa of Venezuela impressing and being named Defensive MVP.
The accuracy of Sofia Novoa Ferrari caught the eye and she took the distinction of 3-point Champion. The Argentina ace was part of her country's lineup at last year's FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup in Mexico.
Meanwhile the Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award was handed to Micaela Cavalcanti of Brazil. She has already made some seriously positive waves by appearing for the senior Brazil team at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Rwanda.
That came having showed out at a host of FIBA youth events and she was also out to impress at this year's BWB Americas Camp too - reminding everyone what a great prospect she is for Brazil in the longer term.
