Canada earn dominant win on home turf at FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Edmonton stop 2024

EDMONTON (Canada) - Top-seeded Canada go unbeaten at home, defeating Dallas 3XBA 21 - 11 in the final to win the FIBA 3x3 Edmonton stop 2024 on July 5 - 6. 

The winner: Canada

The Canadians showed up and showed out at home as they looked unstoppable on the road to Paris. 

They took down a plucky Aussie side Nunawading in the opener 19 - 10. Kat Plouffe started off hot with a 10 point - 7 rebound game. It was business as usual against Puerto Rico next as they won 21 - 10, sharpshooter Paige Crozon leading her side in scoring this time with 9. 

They closed out pool phase with a ruthless 21 - 5 drubbing of Chile in quick fashion. Kat Plouffe and Crozon continued their offensive tear as they chipped in with 7 and 9 respectively. 

They faced a fiery Barcelona Panthers side in the Semi-Final who were led by a lights out shooter in Ari Geli. The Canadians however, had different plans in mind as the Plouffe sisters scored 6 points each while Crozon got herself another 9-point game to seal a dominant 21 - 10 victory and a spot in the final. 

The runner-up: Dallas 3XBA

One of the most efficient sides in the W circuit in recent stops, Dallas took to the court off the back of a runner-up spot in Quebec. They were hoping this time to go one step further. 

They made quick work of Japanese side Tsukuba ML in their opener with a 21 - 12 win. Kaela Davis and Camille Zimmerman got 9 points each in the result. 

A more closely contested battle was next for them against Barcelona Panthers who saw their star Sarah Sagerer find form as she put up 8. Davis however, earned the same for Dallas as she led her side to the 18 - 15 victory. They closed things off with a 21 - 16 win against Heidelburg, a score by committee approach led Dallas to a perfect pool phase stint. 

They faced off against an on-fire Nunawading side in the Semis led by a bucket-getter in Miles Goodchild. However, Dallas were too fast and decisive as they swept past the Australian side 22 - 9, booking a matchup against Canada in the final.

The Canadians were out to make a statement, and that they did.

It started off fairly even with both teams getting early buckets. The Plouffe sisters got on the board first while Dallas distributed the ball well to get theirs. A 6 - 4 game became 11 - 4 swiftly with the Plouffe sisters scoring from behind the arc. 

Though Dallas mounted a comeback thanks to Blake Dietrick and Zimmerman, the Canadians kept applying pressure. Michelle Plouffe was unstoppable throughout the game as she put up a whopping 14. Crozon iced the game with a lay, handing Canada their second stop win of the season.
