Canada dominate the glass, set FIBA U18 AmeriCup records

    Short Read

The Canadians established new tournament records for total rebounds and offensive rebounds in their collective Group Phase victory over Puerto Rico.

LEON (Mexico) – The Canadian team closed out the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2026 Group Phase with a dominant performance and a place in the tournament record book. In their 101-48 victory over Puerto Rico, Canada grabbed 77 rebounds, setting a new single-game tournament record and the highest total recorded (since 2006). The North Americans also set a new record with 33 offensive rebounds. Both previous records belonged to the United States, which collected 73 total rebounds and 32 offensive rebounds against Puerto Rico in the 2024 Quarter-Finals. What made the performance even more impressive was the collective nature it required.

Maxime Meyer led the team with 13 rebounds, while Lyris Robinson added 8. However, all 12 players who saw action contributed, recording at least one offensive rebound and one defensive rebound. With the historic performance, Canada not only secured a convincing victory to close the Group Phase but also etched their name into FIBA U18 AmeriCup history.
