GUADALAJARA (Mexico) – Canada completed a perfect run in Guadalajara. The North American side defeated Mexico 83-53 in the Final of the FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2026 to claim the title (5-0) and secure the only available spot in the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2028.
Canada dominated the decisive game and once again showcased the depth that carried the team to the title. Kayla Alexander led the offense with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block. Agot Makeer added 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, while Syla Swords scored 12 points. Yvonne Ejim also delivered a standout performance with a double-double of 10 points and 17 rebounds.
Swords was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. The forward headlined the All-Star Five alongside her teammate Ejim, Anisa Jeffries (Mexico), Emilia Shearer (New Zealand) and Bella Nascimento (Brazil).
With the title secured in Guadalajara, Canada takes one step closer on the path toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
