    Press Release

Canada’s women reclaimed the title, while the USA men secured a third straight championship at a memorable AmeriCup in San Salvador.

SAN SALVADOR (El Salvador) – Canada women reclaimed the crown, while the United States men completed a historic three-peat at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2026, capping an action-packed final day in San Salvador. Canada defeated defending champions USA 21-12 in the Women's Final to claim their third AmeriCup title, while the USA powered past Canada 21-15 in the Men's Final to secure their third consecutive title and fifth overall.

Canada's road back to the women's throne was built on another dominant performance from their experienced core. After dispatching Chile 18-10 in the Quarter-Finals and Colombia 21-11 in the Semi-Finals, Canada took control against the defending champions in the Final. Michelle Plouffe led the way with nine points, while Paige Crozon delivered the finishing touch as Canada closed out a commanding 21-12 victory. The triumph marked Canada's third women's AmeriCup title overall.

Plouffe was at the heart of Canada's title run and was rewarded with the Women's MVP award. She scored eight points in the Quarter-Final against Chile, exploded for 11 in the Semi-Final against Colombia, and added nine more in the championship game. Her consistent scoring and leadership anchored Canada's run back to the top of the Americas.

Jimmer Fredette delivered a spectacular performance, erupting for 13 points as the USA defeated Canada 21-15. The Americans established an early advantage and maintained control despite Canada's attempts to close the gap. Fredette's scoring proved decisive as the USA completed an unbeaten run to first place.

Fredette was named Men's MVP after delivering throughout the knockout stage. He recorded eight points, seven rebounds and five highlights in the Quarter-Final against Mexico, added five points in the Semi-Final against Brazil, and saved his biggest scoring performance for the Final with 13 points.
