TORONTO (National Team) - Canada Basketball announced today the final roster for the Senior Men’s National Team. Canada will carry 15 players including three players from the CIS, seven players from the NCAA and five players from the professional leagues.

The team was selected from the 21 players invited to the Senior Men’s National Team training camp which concludes tomorrow.

Five players named to the team were members of last year’s roster. In addition, the team includes one member of Canada’s 2005 development team which played at the FISU (World University) Games in Turkey, and four members of last summer’s Young Men’s National Team that won a bronze medal at the FIBA U21 World Championship in Argentina.

"Canada is in the midst of establishing a nucleus for the senior national team for the years to come," commented Senior Men’s National Team Head Coach Leo Rautins. "This team will always experience transition as players come in-and-out of the lineup, but it is important to have a committed core that will grow together. This is a hard-working, talented team that knows how to win."

The average age of the squad is 24.3 years.

The senior men’s season will tip-off in Bormio, Italy, July 21, in a four-team exhibition tournament with Greece, Serbia and Montenegro, and the host Italian team. The team will then travel to Germany where they will play in a two game exhibition series against Dirk Nowitzki and the German National Team in Hambourg July 28th, and Nurembourg, July 30th. The team will complete the 2006 season in Maribor, Slovenia, playing in the International Alpos Cup against Venezuela, Lebanon and Slovenia.
