TORONTO (Pan American Games) - Canada Basketball has announced the final roster for the Senior Men's national team that will be competing later this month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Pan American Games. The team will begin their competition on Wednesday July 25 at 12:15 pm EST against Puerto Rico. On Thursday July 26 they will face the host Brazil squad at 2:30 pm EST. They will finish the preliminary round on Friday July 27 against Virgin Islands at 11:45 am EST.

The Pan American Games will be the first competition for the Senior Men's squad as they prepare for a busy summer schedule. Canada will prepare for the Olympic Qualifiers at a three-day, four-team tournament in Puerto Rico. The Tuto Marchand Cup consists of Canada, Puerto Rico, Argentina, and Brazil. The Senior Men will end their summer competition at the FIBA America's Olympic Qualification Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from August 22 to September 2.

"The Pan American Games are a great way to start the summer and get our guys some international experience," stated head coach Leo Rautins. "This multi-sport event will be similar to the Olympic Games atmosphere, giving the players a sample of this environment for the future."
