TORONTO (NBA) - The Toronto Raptors have named Masai Ujiri as their director of global scouting.
The 36-year-old joins the Raptors after four seasons as a member of the Denver Nuggets' scouting department, taking in the international game in 2006-07.
Ujiri, who hails from Nigeria, was an international scout with the Orlando Magic for the 2002-03 campaign.
"Masai Ujiri is universally known in the NBA as a bright young basketball mind," said Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo.
"The Toronto Raptors will surely benefit from his wealth of experience and contacts throughout the basketball community worldwide."
Ujiri has played an active role in promoting basketball in his homeland, inaugurating the Top 50 Bigman Camp five years ago, as well as serving as a director for the NBA's Basketball Without Borders Africa programme.
Following his collegiate career at Montana State, he spent six years playing professionally in Belgium, Germany, England, Greece and Finland.
